Second Bloom Books – Terms & Conditions
Last Updated: July 2026
Welcome to Second Bloom Books ("we", "us", "our").
These Terms & Conditions govern your use of our website and the purchase of any products or subscriptions from Second Bloom Books. By accessing our website or placing an order, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
If you do not agree with these Terms, please do not use our website or purchase our products.
Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights under UK consumer law.
1. About Us
Second Bloom Books is a UK-based independent business specialising in carefully curated preloved book boxes and bookish gifts.
If you have any questions regarding your order, subscription or these Terms & Conditions, please contact us at:
Email: contact@secondbloombooks.com
2. Eligibility
By placing an order through our website you confirm that:
-
You are at least 18 years of age; or
-
You have the permission of a parent or legal guardian.
3. Our Products
Second Bloom Books offers:
-
Monthly subscription Bloom Boxes
-
One-off Bloom Boxes
-
Book-related gifts and accessories
All books supplied are preloved unless otherwise stated.
Every book is individually checked before dispatch to ensure it is in good readable condition.
Because our books are preloved, minor cosmetic wear such as light shelf wear, small creases, discolouration or previous ownership marks may be present. These do not affect the enjoyment or readability of the book and are considered part of the character of preloved books.
Product photographs are provided for illustration purposes only. Book selections, wrapping, colours and themed extras may vary depending on availability.
4. One-Off Purchases
One-off Bloom Boxes are paid for in full at the time of purchase.
These orders do not automatically renew.
Dispatch times for one-off purchases are between 2-3 days of order.
5. Subscription Service
Our monthly Bloom Box subscription is a recurring service.
Your first subscription payment is taken immediately when you place your order.
Your subscription will then automatically renew on the same calendar date each month unless cancelled or paused.
Should we ever need to change the subscription price, we will provide reasonable notice before the new price comes into effect.
6. Renewals, Pausing & Cancellation
Your subscription renews automatically every month.
You may cancel your subscription at any time by:
-
contacting us directly; or
-
cancelling through your customer account (where this feature is available).
To avoid being charged for your next month's subscription, cancellations must be completed no later than the day before your renewal date.
If payment has already been taken, your cancellation will apply to future renewals.
Customers may pause their subscription for up to two consecutive months by contacting us before their next renewal date.
Requests received after payment has been processed may not take effect until the following billing cycle.
If you wish to change your subscription type or preferred reading genre, please contact us before your next renewal date.
7. Pricing & Payments
All prices shown on our website are in Pounds Sterling (GBP £).
Payment is taken securely through our website payment provider.
Shipping Charges
-
UK shipping is charged at £1.49 unless otherwise stated.
-
Shipping charges are displayed at checkout.
-
International shipping costs vary depending on destination and will be calculated before payment.
We reserve the right to amend prices and shipping charges at any time.
Price changes will not affect orders that have already been placed.
For subscription customers, any future price changes will be communicated before your next renewal.
8. Failed Payments
If your subscription payment cannot be collected, our payment provider will automatically attempt to process the payment once more.
Within 48hrs of failed payment, you may also log into your customer account to update your payment details and complete payment manually.
We reserve the right to suspend future deliveries until payment has been successfully received.
9. Dispatch & Delivery
Subscription boxes are usually dispatched on or around the 1st of each month.
If the 1st falls on a Sunday or a UK Bank Holiday, dispatch will take place on the next available working day.
One-off purchases are dispatched according to the times shown on the relevant product page.
We use a range of trusted delivery providers including Royal Mail, Evri, InPost and other courier services where appropriate.
The courier used may vary from month to month depending on availability, service performance and operational requirements.
We reserve the right to change delivery providers without prior notice.
Delivery times are estimates only and cannot be guaranteed.
Although we always aim to dispatch promptly, delays caused by postal services, courier networks, severe weather or other circumstances beyond our reasonable control may occasionally occur.
Customers are responsible for ensuring their delivery address is accurate and up to date.
If you need to change your delivery address, please contact us before your next renewal date or before your order is dispatched. We cannot guarantee that address changes can be made once an order has entered the packing process.
10. International Orders
We currently ship to selected international destinations.
International customers are responsible for paying any applicable:
-
Import VAT
-
Customs duties
-
Local taxes
-
Carrier handling charges
These charges are determined by the destination country and are not controlled by Second Bloom Books.
If an order is refused or abandoned because customs charges are not paid, we are unable to offer a refund.
11. Lost or Missing Parcels
If your order has not arrived within 7 working days of receiving your dispatch confirmation email, please contact us.
We will investigate with the delivery provider and work with you to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
Customer Information
Customers are responsible for ensuring that all information provided at checkout, including their name, shipping address, email address, and contact details, is accurate and complete. Second Bloom Books cannot be held responsible for delays, failed deliveries, additional charges, or returned parcels resulting from incorrect or incomplete information provided by the customer, including missed customs or delivery notifications due to an incorrect or inaccessible email address.
12. Book Selection
Every monthly Bloom Box contains:
-
Three carefully selected preloved books based on your chosen genre.
-
The month's themed extras.
As our stock is continually changing, we cannot guarantee specific authors or titles.
Every box is personally curated, and while we always strive to match your preferences, reading tastes are subjective and we cannot guarantee that every title will suit every customer's individual preferences.
13. Goodreads & Duplicate Books
Customers are welcome to provide a link to their Goodreads profile to help us avoid selecting books they have already read.
We spend considerable time curating every subscription and preparing boxes in advance.
While we make every reasonable effort to avoid duplicates, we cannot guarantee that you will never receive a title you already own or have previously read.
Duplicate titles are not considered faulty and are not eligible for refunds or replacements.
Â
14. Changing Your Genre
If you would like to change your preferred reading genre, please contact us before your next renewal date.
Genre changes requested after your subscription payment has been processed may not take effect until the following month's subscription.
We will always do our best to accommodate your preferences, but all book selections are subject to stock availability.
15. Condition of Preloved Books
All books supplied by Second Bloom Books are preloved and have been previously enjoyed.
Every book is individually inspected before dispatch to ensure it is good readable condition.
As preloved books have had previous owners, they may display signs of wear including:
-
Light shelf wear
-
Creases
-
Minor marks
-
Discolouration
-
Previous ownership inscriptions or stickers
These cosmetic imperfections are normal for preloved books and do not affect their readability or enjoyment.
16. Damaged Deliveries, Returns & Refunds
We take great care to ensure every Bloom Box is securely packaged before dispatch.
If your parcel arrives with contents that have clearly been damaged during transit, please contact us within 14 days of delivery.
Where possible, please include photographs of:
-
the outer packaging;
-
the damaged contents; and
-
the shipping label.
We will assess each case individually and, where appropriate, arrange a replacement, partial refund or another suitable resolution.
Due to the nature of our products, we cannot offer refunds or replacements because:
-
you dislike a particular book;
-
a title is not to your personal taste;
-
you have previously read or own a book;
-
normal cosmetic wear is present on a preloved book.
Nothing within these Terms affects your statutory rights under UK consumer law.
17. Cooling-Off Rights
If you purchase your subscription online, you may have cancellation rights under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013.
Once your first subscription box has been dispatched, cancellation will apply to future renewals rather than the dispatched order.
Nothing in these Terms limits or removes your statutory consumer rights.
18. Right to Refuse Orders
We reserve the right to refuse or cancel any order before dispatch where:
-
payment cannot be authorised;
-
a pricing or listing error has occurred;
-
stock becomes unavailable;
-
we reasonably suspect fraudulent activity;
-
incorrect customer information has been provided; or
-
an order has been placed in error.
Where payment has already been taken, any refund due will be made using the original payment method.
19. Customer Conduct
We are committed to providing a friendly, respectful and welcoming service.
In return, we ask that customers communicate with us in a respectful manner.
We reserve the right to refuse future orders, cancel subscriptions or decline further communication where a customer behaves in a way that is:
-
abusive;
-
threatening;
-
discriminatory;
-
harassing; or
-
otherwise unreasonable towards our staff or business.
This clause does not affect your statutory consumer rights.
20. Promotional Offers
From time to time we may offer promotions, discount codes or special offers.
Unless otherwise stated:
-
offers cannot be exchanged for cash;
-
discount codes cannot normally be used retrospectively;
-
only one discount code may be used per order;
-
promotions cannot usually be combined with other offers.
We reserve the right to amend or withdraw promotions at any time.
21. Gift Orders
Gift subscriptions and gift purchases are subject to these Terms & Conditions.
It is the purchaser's responsibility to ensure that the recipient's name, address and other delivery details are correct.
We cannot accept responsibility for delays or failed deliveries caused by incorrect recipient information.
